Metal Casting Processes: From Sand Casting to Die Casting
The Metal casting is a key process used to manufacture both small and large metal parts by turning metal into liquid form and pouring it into a cavity mold. In a casting furnace, metal is heated until it melts completely, forming a smooth liquid that flows easily. The molten metal is slowly poured into the mold which holds it in position until it hardens. Because liquid metal takes the shape of the mold exactly, very complex parts like medical components, turbine blades, or custom machinery parts can be produced.
Most industries use metal casting for components that need strength, rigid internal structure, and high stability under stress. Casted parts are used in motors, mechanical equipment, building framework parts, industrial clamps, metal sheets, metal bends, metal inserts, pipe junctions, metal coverings, pump parts, metal runners, metal grooves and connecting system patches that must hold long-term shape without breaking. Metal casting stays successful because it supports mold scalability, complex part shaping, long-term component rigidity, mass production needs and easy recycling of leftover metal. Many casting factories now monitor temperature digitally to produce uniform hardening structures that improve part lifecycle and durability under repetitive mechanical load.
